Acceptance for Non F-1 Student Visa Holders

Welcome to the Georgia Tech Language Institute! The schedule below is for our mandatory orientation events. You are required to attend the Orientation.

Fall 1 session is from August 22 to October 14, 2022.

What to do before attending Orientation?

 1. Collect your immunization history from your doctor, and bring it to orientation.

2. Check-in online once arrived in the US - Please complete check-in online before attending orientation. Students are not allowed to attend classes without online check-in.

Where do I park ? (Our location: 151 6th Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30332)

  1. The Technology Square Parking Deck is located at 770 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30308-1031. It is close to the O’Keefe building, offering convenient parking. We encourage you to download the Parkmobile app for street parking. https://parkmobile.io/
  2. Georgia Tech provides a free campus shuttle to and from Midtown MARTA train and bus station. Kindly ask the trolley driver to alert you to the trolley stop in Technology Square.

 

Payment Options

You may email the Language Institute to ask for the amount you owe for tuition and fees in your first session. The Language Institute offers the following options for payment of tuition and fees.

Credit/Debit Card

Pay your tuition and fees during the first day of registration using a U.S. or international credit/debit card. A 2.85% service fee will be charged during payment.

Electronic Check/WebCheck

Pay your tuition and fees during the first day of registration using transfer from a U.S. bank account with an electronic check/webcheck. There is no fee to use this method of payment. However, a $30 fee will be assessed for a check that is returned by the bank due to insufficient funds or incorrect information.

International Credit/Debit Card or Wire Transfer

If you will pay with an international credit/debit card or with an international wire transfer, you may pay using Flywire before or after you travel to Atlanta. Sponsored Students

If you have been awarded a scholarship by your government or another organization, please review the Sponsored Student Payment Plan for the first session you will study below. If your financial guarantee or other scholarship award letter has not been received by the Language Institute when classes begin, you will be required to pay a temporary $500 deposit in order to attend class.

Important Documents

You should carefully read each of the following documents prior to traveling to Atlanta. Each document contains important information that will make your preparation and travel simple and easy.

Certificate of Required Immunizations: All Georgia Tech students must meet the university's immunization requirements. You should try to collect as much of your immunization records as possible prior to arriving in Atlanta, with your doctor signing, dating, and stamping the records. Bring all available immunization records with you to campus along with the Georgia Tech Certificate of Required Immunizations. A representative from the student health center will review the records to determine if you are missing any required immunizations. If you need to take additional shots, Georgia Tech's student medical insurance will pay 100% of the costs for shots taken at the student health center.

Language Institute Pre-Arrival Information: Get ready for your arrival in Atlanta with the pre-arrival information packet. It outlines what you need to bring, how to travel from the airport, where to stay after you arrive, and other important information to help you have a successful start.

Campus Map: Print this map and bring it with you to campus.

Online Map of Important Language Institute Locations: Open this Google Map on your phone to see a list of some important places you may visit during your studies at the Language Institute. You can open the map on your wireless device and enter your location to receive step-by-step directions.

Georgia Tech Technology Services and Resources: Get a preview of the various technology services and resources that will be available to you during your studies at the Language Institute. You will begin using many of the services on Day 1 of your orientation program before classes begin.

Change of Plans Form: Complete a Change of Plans Form if you need to cancel or defer your enrollment to a later session.

Items to Bring With You for Registration

Be sure to bring the following items with you in the format provided.

  • Passport or Resident Alien card (paper copy AND electronic PDF copy in email or flash drive)
  • U.S. Visa with U.S. entry stamp (electronic PDF copy in email or flash drive)
  • Signed I-20* or DS-2019 (electronic PDF copy in email or flash drive)
  • I-94 (electronic PDF copy in email or flash drive) - after you arrive in Atlanta, access and download your I-94 here
  • Immunization records (must be printed on 8.5” x 11” paper) - download Georgia Tech’s Certificate of Required Immunizations
  • Emergency contact information for 2 friends or family members
    • First/Given name and Last/Family name
    • Home address
    • Email address
    • Phone Number

* If you are U.S. F-1 visa holder transferring to our program from another U.S. program, please pick up your new I-20 and sign it when you arrive for the placement exam. You will need to upload your signed I-20 to iStart during registration.

Medical Insurance

When a student needs additional medical attention that cannot be provided by campus Health Services, UnitedHealthcare provides comprehensive medical insurance that is widely accepted at hospitals, emergency rooms, and specialists in metro Atlanta.

  • For F-1 visa holders, this insurance is mandatory. 
  • For non F-1 students, the plan is optional with a different cost structure.

Students pay this fee at registration each session at the Language Institute.
