There are 5 steps to the registration and check-in process that you must complete at the beginning of your first session in the Intensive English Program:

  1. Create a password, provide 2 emergency contacts, and opt in or out of Georgia Tech Emergency Notification System (GTENS) in Georgia Tech's Passport system
  2. Record a mailing address in the Atlanta area in Georgia Tech's BuzzPort system
  3. Submit payment for tuition and fees through Buzzport or through Flywire 
  4. Upload documents and complete 3 forms in Georgia Tech's iStart system
  5. Review Steps 1-4 with a Language Institute staff member to ensure successful completion of each step

Create a password, provide 2 emergency contacts, and opt in or out of Georgia Tech Emergency Notification System (GTENS)

Go to passport.gatech.edu. Log in using the username and temporary password Georgia Tech provided to you.

 

You should perform each of the following 3 steps:

 

STEP 1:

Opt In or Opt Out of Georgia Tech Emergency Notification System (GTENS) and click Save. You must have a U.S. telephone number in order to Opt In.

 

STEP 2:

Provide the information for 2 emergency contacts you would like the Language Institute to contact in the event of an emergency during your studies and click Save. Only fields with asterisks are required. You may get kicked out after two minutes.

 

STEP 3:

Click Change Password to create a new, custom password.

 

 

Record a local residence address in the Atlanta area

Go to buzzport.gatech.edu. Log in using your Georgia Tech username and newly-created password.

 

You should perform each of the following 2 steps:

 

STEP 1:

Add / confirm your local mailing address

 

  • Click the Registration - OSCAR icon.

 

  • Select your ethnicity and race and click Continue.

 

  • Click Done.

 

  • Click Please click the link to continue.

 

  • Click Personal Information.

 

  • Click Update Address(es) and Phone(s).

 

  • In the Type of Address to Insert menu at the bottom of the page, select Mailing Address and click Submit.

 

  • You must complete the following boxes for your address information for Georgia Tech records:
    1. Valid From This Date
      • Enter 08/16/2018
    2. Until This Date
      • Enter 01/01/2099
    3. Address Line 1
      • Enter only the street address of where you live in Atlanta. Do not include the name of the city or the zip/postal code. (Example: 2017 Peachtree Street Apartment 15-B)
    4. City
      • Enter the name of the city.
    5. State or Province
      • Select Georgia (GA) from the menu.
    6. ZIP or Postal Code
      • Enter the zip/postal code for your local address.
    7. Phone Number
      • If you have a U.S. phone number, enter the 3-digit Area Code (Example: 404) and the 7-digit Phone Number (Example: 894-2425)
  • Click Submit.

 

 

Self-pay students: Continue in BuzzPort to pay with a credit/debit card or an electronic transfer from a U.S. bank account (follow the BuzzPort instructions below) -OR- go to Flywire.com to pay with an international credit/debit card or a wire transfer from an international bank account.

Sponsored students: Confirm your scholarship with a Language Institute staff member during the review process after completing iStart.

 

 

Upload documents and complete forms

Go to istart.gatech.edu. Click the yellow GT LOGIN button to log in using your Georgia Tech username and newly-created password.

 

Once you have logged in:

  1. Click 1. F/J Student Arrival and Check-In on the left side of the page.
  2. Click Language Institute: Check-In Forms on the left side of the page.

 

You should perform each of the following 3 steps:

 

STEP 1: Document Verification

You must answer all questions, upload all required documents, and click Submit. If you do not have all of your documents to upload, you may save your work and complete the form at a later time by clicking Draft.

 

STEP 2: FERPA Form

This form allows you to give the Language Institute permission to release certain information in your records to certain people. Or you may choose to keep all of your information private ("I give no on permisson"). If you are a scholarship student, you are required to choose “Representative of my scholarship program” and find your scholarship using the drop-menu that appears. Click Submit once you have made your selection and entered any required information.

 

STEP 3: New Student Survey

This final form allows us to learn a little more information about you, your English language skills, and why you chose to study at the Language Institute. Answer each question and click Submit.
